How do you use a grass trimmer?

It’s important to hold your grass trimmer at a slight angle above the grass. Do not to hold the trimmer directly over the lawn as it can result in scalping and possible long-term lawn scarring and damage. You can walk in a straight line or sweep back and forth, whichever style suits you best. If you’re trimming around sidewalks or driveways keep the trimmer spool flat and parallel with the ground to avoid eating up too much string.

How do you restring a weed eater?

First, make sure you have the correct replacement trimmer line for your model. You can follow the same general process for restringing a grass trimmer or weed eater:

Remove the motor guard for easier access.
Remove the spool (most have two push-in tabs though some have screws).
If necessary, cut the string to size according to your model’s instructions (some models use two pieces of string).
Insert the string(s) into the hole(s) on the spool and begin wrapping it tightly in the direction indicated by the arrows on the spool.
If your trimmer has two strings wrap both at the same time making sure to keep each string in its individual valley without crossing over.
Once fully wrapped, reattach the spool to the trimmer head and slip the string through the guide holes.
Allow about 12 cm of exposed string, then turn the trimmer on and tap it on the ground for an automatic final adjustment (any excess line will be cut off).

Can you weed whack wet grass?

Most trimmers are powerful enough to cut through wet grass, but it may not cut evenly or effectively. Some of the wet grass blades can end up simply being pushed over vs. cut, resulting in a patchy job once the turf is dry. It’s better to wait until the sun is high in the sky and the grass is dry.

Is a curved or straight shaft trimmer better?

That depends on the task at hand. A straight-shaft trimmer is great for reaching high branches and is easy to maneuver. A curved-shaft trimmer works well for edging around flowers beds.
