Are latex-free gloves food-safe?

Yes. Nitrile gloves and vinyl gloves contain no latex and are preferred by many people with latex allergies. Nitrile gloves offer good elasticity and resistance to cuts and kitchen cleaners. You can even find biodegradable nitrile gloves to keep your kitchen more environmentally friendly. Vinyl gloves are a good cost-effective alternative, although they may not provide the same level of cut and chemical resistance.

Can you use dish soap in the dishwasher?

No. You should only use dishwasher detergent in your dishwasher. Dish soap is specially formulated to create suds, which dishwashers are not designed to handle. The excess foam can clog the filters in your dishwasher and cause it to overflow or even damage the machine.

How do reusable paper towels work?

Reusable paper towels are made from the same type of cellulose fibers as disposable paper towels, but they are dishwasher safe and can be washed several hundred times. They are also soft, extremely absorbent, and 100% biodegradable.

Can you use oven cleaner on a self-cleaning oven?

It is not recommended. Oven cleaner can interfere with the self-cleaning process and make it less effective over time. It can also damage your oven's interior, causing etching and discolouration on the oven liner.

Can you use steel wool on cast iron?

Yes. Steel wool is very effective at removing stubborn food residue and rust from cast iron pans. However, it can also strip away the seasoning. Instead of using steel wool after every use, consider scrubbing and re-seasoning your cast iron pans once or twice a year. You should not use steel wool on your stainless steel cookware as it can scratch the surface and dull the finish.
